The container gantry crane with a load capacity of 45t and a span of 9m was manufactured using existing steel components that were sustainably overhauled and re-painted at the production site in Essen.

At the customer's request, the crane received new electrical systems and new control elements and is also equipped with the latest Siemens PLC technology. The crane is controlled via radio or cabin control.

In order to ensure work safety on the crane track during operation at all times, the crane is equipped with a person detection system using a laser, which immediately switches off the crane if there is any movement on the track.

By switching to rail transport the new 45t container crane is expected to replace 6,000-10,000 truck trips annually. Procter & Gamble is aiming to become a pioneer in environmentally friendly freight transport and save up to 2,000 tons of Co² per year.

For Procter & Gamble the new combined transport terminal in Crailsheim will become the new European hub in the European logistics network.

At the Crailsheim plant, Procter & Gamble produces women's hygiene products with brands such as Always, Always Discreet or Swiffer employing around 1,100 employees in Crailsheim. The location also plays a central role as a logistical hub in the Procter&Gamble European distribution network. With the reactivated access to the rail network, Crailsheim is establishing the first European Procter & Gamble combined transport terminal and is thus taking on a pioneering role within the company in Europe.
