The rubber-tired gantry crane operates at the deepest point, at approximately 1,730 meters below the Earth's surface, in the so-called exploratory tunnel. This tunnel serves for the removal of excavated material, the drainage of groundwater, and, during operation, as a service and rescue route.
In total we have delivered 9 crane to Austira: 7 traveling cranes for underground excavation and tunnel lining segment transport, as well as 1 gantry crane for the tunnel lining segment factory.
The Brenner Base Tunnel between Innsbruck and Franzensfeste in South Tyrol (Italy) will be over 55 kilometers long. Upon completion in 2032, it will be one of the longest underground railway connections in the world. The tunnel's primary purpose is to shift freight traffic from road to rail, thereby relieving congestion on the Brenner Pass and reducing CO2 emissions.
