Modernisation of a double girder travelling crane

The replacement of the existing crane of a recycling yard with an age beyond the admissible age limit was in the focus of this order. As specialist for second hand cranes TEICHMANN CRANES delivered a used double girder travelling crane with capacity of 8,0 t to Mülheim, North-Rhein-Westfalia. Its trolley could be completely re-built with use of the electrical components of the former trolley. The trolley track gauge was adapted.

Modernisation of the robust giant

In addition to a partial renewal of the electrical system a weather and splinter protection was installed in the course of the modernisation measures. As cast parts are delivered to the recycling plant which are destroyed by a ball the equipment is subject to a quicker wear due to bursting material. The affected crane components have thus been adapted to these special requirements. In order to make the plant more robust and durable, a flexibly suspended splinter protection was installed underneath the crane bridge near the available bin. The lower section of the driver’s cabin was equipped with armoured glass and the drives of the trolley were encased.
