KNOCK ON WOOD: Impressive 10t x 54m gantry crane for timber manufacturers

For Blomberger Holz GmbH, a manufacturer of specialized plywood, we delivered this 10t gantry crane with a total span of 54.4m, a cantilever of 19m, and a rotating trolley. A remarkable customized solution was created to meet the specific requirements and logistical conditions of the customer.

To ensure the customer can make optimal use of their wood production line, a special design was developed. Thanks to the wide-portal construction, a drive-through width of 22m was achieved on the crane’s pendulum support side. This allows the customer to transport wood trunks up to 22m in length seamlessly, without the need to rotate or set them down.

The crane supplies both the steaming pits and the veneer plant with beech wood trunks for the production chain. Built in a tubular design, the gantry crane features a fully refurbished steel structure, which was adapted according to customer's specifications in Essen. All other components – including the electrical control system and wiring, the motors etc. – are completely new. The crane is equipped with frequency inverter control with PLC, as well as both a cabin control and a radio remote control.
